As the full moon carries night,
and stars keep watch above,
a devil whispers softly —
warm breath, a quiet love.
I lean in close.
He pulls me near,
velvet ropes that coil and tighten,
a whispered vow, sincere.
Icy fingers trail my spine;
he drinks the silence deep,
possesses every flicker, sigh,
beckoning from sleep.
He moves like smoke through tangled thought,
a flicker, sudden flame,
and I, caught in his blaze,
follow, bound, untamed.
We dance beneath a sleepless sky,
his shadow wrapped in mine.
My thoughts unravel, become his —
together we defy time.
Solace melts to quiet grief;
loneliness grows where we blend.
As night unfolds around our skin,
I wonder if dawn finds me alone again.
Alone I stand
as darkness starts to fade.
My skin drinks amber’s glow,
then gold’s soft serenade —
until I’m left beneath
a vast, cerulean cascade.
I’ve walked this path before,
and hope to walk it once more —
but still my heart burns on,
holding fast when darkness calls.
